Eagle Valley Speedway Mother’s Day Results

Jim Falls, Wisconsin (May 13, 2018) The Eagle Valley Speedway drivers and fans were greeted with beautiful weather on Mother’s Day 2018. The racing action did not disappoint as the WISSOTA Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks, Modifieds and EVS Hornets took to the dirt. Feature winners included Mike Anderson, Tommy Richards, Nick Koehler, Danny Richards, George Richards, and Chad Prissel.
The WISSOTA Modified heats were won by Grant Southworth and Mike Anderson as Jake Miller was flanked by Michael Truscott as they paced the feature. Miller moved into the early lead as Anderson worked the low groove of the race track into the second position. Anderson drove under Miller for the lead on lap two, immediately moved to the ultra-high groove, and set sail into the night toward the checkered flag as the Modifieds reeled off 20 caution free laps. As Anderson left no doubt and stretched a significant lead on his way to the win, Miller and Truscott waged a battle for the runner up position. It was Miller besting Truscott as he completed an outstanding run. Truscott finished third over an impressive run for Modified rookie, Grant Southworth in fourth as the travelling Clayton Wagamon drove home in fifth.
Terran Spacek won the WISSOTA Super Stock heat as he sat on the pole with Wayne Dean to his outside for the feature. Spacek moved out front as the green flag flew as he began to drive out into a very comfortable lead. Meanwhile, Jeff Brauer drove the low line past Dean into second position. It was Tommy Richards though who hugged the tires and began to claw toward the front. He methodically worked his way into second position but was a complete straight stretch behind Spacek.
Richards began to close the gap between himself and the leader in significant chunks. With one lap in past the halfway marker, Richards drove under Spacek for the lead and never glanced back thereafter. Richards drove undaunted to the win as Spacek settled for runner up. Dean made a late charge and moved past Brauer into third, but shortly thereafter, he pulled off the track. It was Richards first at the line as Spacek, Brauer, Troy Fransway, and Lukas Koski finished in the top five.
The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds saw Derek Haas, Calvin Iverson, and Nick Koehler win heats as Derek Haas and Nick Lindquist were on the front row at feature time. A first attempt at a start was slowed due to a three-car spin in turn two which saw the always strong Shane Halopka retire for the evening. The restart saw a melee for about the fifth position as Tommy Richards was shuffled out of line and essentially freight trained all the way back to the 16th position.
It was Lindquist who found the early lead and looked good setting the pace. A spinning Craig Haas drew the first yellow a few laps in and the restart saw ninth starting Koehler had already worked himself into third. Back under green, a few laps were scored, where once again, Craig Hass spun, causing a caution.
The restart saw Koehler move into the lead as he set a torrid pace running the high side where as Derek Haas ran the same line in second position. Steve Dehler drew the caution as they neared the half-way point with a spin. At the midpoint, Koehler was dominating the race with Haas in second and Tommy Richards, who came through from the back of the pack into third. Richards moved into the second position below Haas and tried to reel in the leader. The final caution of the event flew when Derek Haas’ car broke down with a spectacular amount of smoke. Under caution, Lindquist suffered the same fate and both cars retired from the event.
Under green it was Koehler unaffected by the charging Richards as he drove to victory on the high side. Richards settled for second after his charge back through the field from the tail of the group. Calvin Iverson had a fine run in third as George Truscott nipped Jake Smith for fourth.
Danny Richards scored a sweep in the WISSOTA Street Stocks winning both the heat and feature. He started on the pole with Braden Brauer to his outside. It was Brauer by inches after the first circuit, but Richards took the lead on lap two and stretched it out to several car lengths. A fast Hunter VanGilder moved under Brauer for second and tried in vain to run down the leader, but Richards was too strong. Kolby Kiehl moved into third as Parker Anderson drove from seventh to fourth at the finish. Brauer rounded out the top five.
The WISSOTA Pure Stocks saw Kent Harmon winning the heat as he started outside of the polesitter, Tyler Wahlstrom in the feature. The two raced hard on lap one as George Richards joined the fray to make it three wide for the lead after the first lap. It was Richards moving into the lead slightly after two laps but Harmon was strong and impressive. He drove back to the point as Richards was forced to set chase in his shadow. Richards moved up the track slightly as the two raced side by side for several laps and Richards inched back into the lead. As Richards slowly took control, a spinning Brent Hauge drew the caution.
A green, white, checkered restart saw Richards in control as Tyler Wahlstrom, who remained in striking distance the entire event, made a last lap pass to grab the runner up spot. Harmon ended his impressive evening in third as Pat Smith and Tyler Hallquist rounded out the top five.
The EVS Hornet heats were won by Chad Prissel and Jason Bauer as Prissel started outside of the polesitter Dean Butler in the feature. It was Prissel at the end of the first lap as Brauer moved into second and Dan Prissel into third. The caution flag flew when Aaron Reimers made hard contact into the front stretch wall. The restart saw Chad Prissel still in control as Bauer, Dan Prissel, Justin Anderson, and Butler raced hard behind him.
The red flag flew for a fire in the Jason Junker car and back under power, Prissel was still in control. A debris caution was called, and Dan Prissel pulled off the track after a safety check. Once again, Chad Prissel was in control of the restart and drove to the victory. Behind him, a charging Seth Scholl briefly took second, but Bauer wrestled it back before the finish. Scholl finished in an impressive third position as Butler made a strong charge for fourth after having faded earlier. Jake Halterman won a three-car battle for fifth over Justin and Jeremiah Anderson.
The Eagle Valley Speedway will return to racing action on Sunday, May 20, 2018, as Miller Lite Night presented by General Beer Northwest sponsors the WISSOTA sanctioned auto racing featuring all five classes plus the EVS Hornets. Oium Well Drilling and Oium Black Top will once again give away one bicycle each for both a boy and a girl just as they do every race night at the Eagle Valley Speedway!
